Location: - 1930 Job function: Automation Engineer Utilities Tasks In this challenging position, you are responsible for engineering control systems (mainly DCS) in the Utilities sector (power generation, water treatment and waste incineration plants). Your tasks are: You will be responsible for all technical aspects of a project (industrial control and communication systems) including design, logic, control and sequential programming, HMI, simulation, testing (FAT), and start-up (SAT). You will create functional descriptions and program software applications. You produce the technical documentations in accordance with ABB’s and the customer’s requirements. You integrate the systems including the parameterization of the communication structure (Ethernet-based, fieldbuses). You implement the project specific functions as well as software applications, take care of tests, and coordinate the interfaces. Provide training for on-site users / engineers in automation technologies and applications. With your technical knowhow, you support the project manager in technical matters and coordinate both the customer and internal partners. You provide technical support to the sales department during the presales phase (analysis of customer technical specifications, control system architecture design, engineering hour’s calculation). Provide technical support to the customers on software applications, hardware or network issues. Reports unsafe acts and hazards and encourage others to work safely. Together with your colleagues, you’ll ensure a 24/7 standby to serve and maintain the ABB systems (both onsite and remotely). Requirements You have a college degree (Bachelor and/or Master) in electrical/automation engineering or information technology. You have a technical knowledge and ideally experience in several scientific and engineering automation areas including process control, P&ID interpretation, instrumentation and electrical wiring diagrams, communication networks, DCS, PLC/SCADA and HMI You’re familiar with the basic concepts of Object Oriented programming and you have an in- depth knowledge of PLC programming languages. Preferably, you have knowledge of utilities and industrial networking concepts, including communication protocols such as: Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, and you’re experienced with network engineering and ICT. Above all, we care more about your attitude, aptitude and learning strategies than the specific tools and technologies you have used in the past. You’re fluent in Dutch or French and have at least a basic command of the other language, you have a good command of written and spoken English. You’re aware of and self-motivated by the obtained customer satisfaction level. You have a results-oriented attitude and are able to use your excellent organisational and communicative skills well.
